Vistra has an opening for a Research Director to join our team in Washington, D.C. 


The Research Director is responsible for leading efforts in the design and execution of surveys, in-person interviews, focus groups, data analysis and other quantitative studies for a large Federal client. The Research Director will lead client analytic efforts through data discovery, analysis, solution development and implementation for operations, customer experience & satisfaction, and other industries.  Experience working with the Veterans Affairs is a plus. 




Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Apply appropriate analytical methodologies and instruments to research projects.
  • Extract, clean, and analyze results and report survey findings.
  • Supports the team to further enhance process flow for all data collection activities, data collection QA procedures documentation.
  • Facilitate efforts with Vistra and clients to develop, execute, maintain, and enhance data services that compel transformative change.
  • Lead the planning, development and execution of the survey process.
  • Proactively approach clients with value-add analysis and solutions to business needs.
  • Develops client work products as a deliverable required by contract
  • Coordinate collaboration sessions and support the development of the survey instruments.
  • Provide compelling information for customized and presentation-quality transformative reports. This includes presenting summary tables and figures to the client and other analyst.
  • Program manager responsible for liaising with outsource partners to ensure compliance of vendor qualification, contract follow through and payments.
  • Develop and maintain quality control checks and project management schedules to ensure that surveys are launched in a sound and timely manner. Process, edit, and track survey responses or data collection submissions
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for special reports, dynamic presentations, slide shows, and other data services.
  • Conceptualize and write compelling content for our consulting work, including qualitative and quantitative reports, supports proposal development.
  • Local travel is required to client site 
  • Must be willing to work in corporate office with

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients in a professional manner via email, phone and in-person meetings.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of the principles associated with survey design, quantitative analysis, and report writing, statistical software and testing, as well as data design or project management.
  • Experience in data visualization tools
  • Proficiency in statistical packages such as SQL, PL/SQL, Visual Basic, or similar programming languages are not required but preferred.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite Products.
  • Proficiency in other various survey tools, SharePoint, Survey Monkey, etc.
  • Competency with statistical program packages such as R, SAS, SPSS, ATLAS.ti, or STATA
  • Outstanding written (prose and presentation) and oral communications skills, especially the ability to articulate complex strategic situations and strategies and to effectively communicate to audiences with and without business and wireless industry experience and to all levels of an organization.



  • Master’s Degree Required  - PhD preferred - in business, marketing, public policy, mathmatics, statistics or closely related field is required.
  • 15 years of professional research/analytical experience in survey research techniques and mythologies.
  • Experience working with Veterans Affairs (VA) a plus
