  • Overview

    The Proposal Writer will prepare, research and write standard and customized persuasive proposal verbiage (content) for a range of Vistra Communication’s Federal and Corporate business pursuits. This individual works in collaboration with other Vistra program managers, senior leaders, partners and the Vistra team in the preparation of proposals and related tasks that support our proposal development process.

    The Proposal Writer will work collaboratively with individuals in all areas of the company, and therefore maintain a working knowledge of company products and services, and possess an understanding of internal organizational structure, processes, and functionality.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare customized proposals for Vistra Federal and Corporate practice areas includes drafting executive summaries and editing standard templates for services based on input provided by the team. Includes researching, editing, and proofing final proposals.
    • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop persuasive content that accurately represents the proposed services, deliverables and Vistra differentiators for a client requirement.
    • Responsible for working with Vistra’s proposal team on the coordination, organization of content, and submittal of proposals in response to formal client solicitations (e.g., RFPs, RFIs).
    • Identify non-standard questions and complex requirements in an RFP. Identify and coordinate with SMEs to develop custom responses.
    • Understand and apply knowledge of competitors, corporate mission, product strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
    • Tailor writing styles as needed for customized proposal content, incorporating proposal strategies and themes to make the proposal speak directly to a prospective client’s unique situation.
    • Maintain working knowledge of company products and services, as well as philosophy and approach. Coordinate with SMEs to develop proposal content and establish processes to ensure this content is updated accordingly.
    • Use Project Management Software to manage proposal process for multiple simultaneous proposals.
    • Keeps team informed of proposal status.
    • Prepare and keep up to date summary biographical profiles for Vistra team members.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, journalism, creative writing or closely related field.
    • Must be able to tell a story through creative and factual writing
    • 3 + years of writing and editing skills
    • 2 + years of experience in government contracting a plus
    • Must be able to manage the proposal process, meeting compliance requirements & deadlines
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
    • Work independently on proposals and related tasks
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Detail-oriented and organized
    • Must have strong research skills
    • Ability to manage workload including communicating effectively when additional team resources are needed to meet demands
    • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Word Processing, PowerPoint and Excel Software
